A naked version of Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 superbike has been strongly rumored for months and now spy photos have captured the bike in full detail while undergoing promotional shooting in the United States. Named the GSX-S1000 (imaginative) it will join the battle with the other recently released super naked’s such as the KTM 1290 Superduke, Ducati Monster 1200 and fellow Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki’s bug-eyed Z1000.
Taking a leaf out of BMW and Kawasaki’s book, it’s likely the GSX-S1000 will have a slightly detuned but more usable engine than it’s fully faired brother. The current GSX-R1000 produces 182bhp from its 999cc inline four and weighs 424 lb.
Interestingly, you can actually buy a naked version of the GSX-R1000 right now from Suzuki dealerships in Switzerland. Called the ViRus, it’s a dealer special that looks (in our opinion) better than what we can see from the spyshot. Regardless, the official bike from Suzuki will be released early in 2015.
