Honda quietly announced late last week some of their updated off-road range for 2016. The updates are quite minor, especially in comparison to Yamaha and Kawasaki’s range refresh but given the release of the all new Africa Twin later this year, that’s probably understandable
Updates to the Honda CRF450R are focused on handling and traction. The rear suspension gets a new link and spring while up front the front fork has been extended by 5mm. The only other update is that the chain roller’s diameter has increased from 30mm to 34mm.
The CRF250R gets a few more tweaks which help boost horsepower by way of higher compression, titanium exhaust valves, new valve springs, changes to both the cylinder head porting and piston shapes among other things. The exhaust diameter has been increased in size and the resonator has been redesigned for better flow. Like the CRF450R, fork length is increased by 5mm and the chain-roller diameter is also 34mm.
Both updated models will be available in the next few months.
